10/1/10 - New Month, Revised Diet!
October 1, 2010
In the thick of the diet, I'm going to need to change it up a bit. And rename it to Revised Paleo, or, as Darren likes to put it, F*** the Paleo Diet. Trying to decide which name to use as the Blog title... :-)
This diet is just causing too much stress, along with everything else going on in my life. It's been very interesting to follow this diet, but I really need to introduce some loving foods back into my life. I've been just too grumpy (and so obviously tied in with the diet) to make this continue to happen! When Heather (my brother's girlfriend) confirmed she was feeling the exact same way, and has been on the diet for the exact same amount of time as I have, I realized it was time to loosen up. Here's the plan:
I am still not going to drink alcohol, as I'm realizing this is a diet within itself. I might have a glass of wine or two (at the most) this weekend for Caitlyn's birthday (happy birthday Caitlyn!), and then turn to my favorite non-alcoholic drink; tonic and lime! But I have not drank alcohol for over a week now, and I'm just excited to experience life without it and the effects it might have on my body. If I drink this weekend, I am definitely planning on paying close attention to how my body feels afterward, to see if the wine has a positive or negative effect on my body and mind.
I will focus more readily on vegetables as part of my diet (do I get a side of bread? Then I definitely need a side of veggies). I have been so into carbs as my side, that I rarely got into veggies, but I'm really understanding how amazing they are! It's a great way to cut calories.
I will use processed foods in minimal doses for meals. If I'm having dinner, I will have meat, veggies, and a slice of french bread with olive oil.
I am still eliminating all dairy for the month.
I truly believe that eliminating dairy and alcohol for a month is a good enough diet for me! I am also excited to introduce little pieces of processed foods back into my diet to see what causes body or mind issues, so I know what to stay away from. This in itself will be a great exploration for me.
I'll continue to update my blog to show how everything is going!
